Bone Reformation With Sinus Membrane Elevation: A New Surgical Technique for Maxillary Sinus Floor Augmentation

open access: yesClinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, 2004
Various maxillary sinus floor augmentation techniques using bone grafts and bone substitutes are frequently used to enable placement of dental implants in the posterior maxilla. A previous case report demonstrated the possibility of promoting bone formation in the sinus by lifting the membrane without using a grafting material.

Maxillary sinus augmentation: Histomorphometric analysis of graft materials for maxillary sinus floor augmentation

Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1993
This study used histomorphometric analysis to quantitate the bone composition of four different sinus grafting materials biopsied at the time of implant installation. The study consisted of five patients in whom eight bone biopsies were obtained from seven grafted sites.

Maxillary sinusitis after augmentation of the maxillary sinus floor: A report of 2 cases

Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2001
Augmentation of the floor of the maxillary sinus with an autogenous bone graft is a generally accepted pre-implantology procedure to enable successful placement of endosseous implants in an optimal prosthetic position. As reported in the literature, complications of the sinus augmentation procedure predominantly consist of disturbed wound healing ...

Successful Management of Apically Exposed Implants in the Maxillary Sinus and Associated Sinus Pathologies Via Maxillary Sinus Floor Augmentation

Journal of Oral Implantology, 2022
One common complication with dental implants placed in the atrophic posterior maxilla, especially with simultaneous transcrestal sinus augmentation, is the implant protruding into the sinus without apical bone support. Frequently, apically exposed implants contribute to various sinus pathologies that may lead to implant failure.
