A bi-objective model for emergency services location-allocation problem with maximum distance constraint [PDF]

open access: yesManagement Science Letters, 2011
In this paper, a bi-objective mathematical model for emergency services location-allocation problem on a tree network considering maximum distance constraint is presented. The first objective function called centdian is a weighted mean of a minisum and a

Optimizing the Spatial Location of Street Lights in Belle Isle, Michigan

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2022
Improved street lighting can provide better use of public space and helps to promote safety while driving or walking. In terms of balancing benefits and impacts, on the basis of cost saving, this research adopts two prominent mathematical models, the ...

Atiyah covering index theorem for riemannian foliations

open access: yes, 2018
We use the symbol calculus for foliations developed in our previous paper to derive a cohomological formula for the Connes-Chern character of the semi-finite spectral triple. The same proof works for the Type I spectral triple of Connes-Moscovici.

Building SO(10) models from F-theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We revisit local F-theory SO(10) and SU(5) GUTs and analyze their properties within the framework of the maximal underlying E_8 symmetry in the elliptic fibration. We consider the symmetry enhancements along the intersections of seven-branes with the GUT

Imaging of High‐Risk Neuroblastoma: Recommendations From SIOPEN Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Specialty Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in early childhood. Its clinical behavior is highly variable, ranging from spontaneous regression to fatal outcome despite intensive treatment. The International Society of Pediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma Group (SIOPEN) Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Specialty Committees ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Maximal Covering Location Problem Under Uncertainty Through Possibility Theory

open access: yesMathematics
This study presents a practical framework for the maximal covering location problem (MCLP) under uncertainty. The approach combines possibility theory with chance-constrained programming to represent both imprecision and randomness in demand.

On Some Types of Multigranulation Covering Based on Binary Relations

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2021
Recently, the notions of right and left covering rough sets were constructed by right and left neighborhoods to propose four types of multigranulation covering rough set (MGCRS) models.

Optimal Filling of Shapes

open access: yes, 2012
We present filling as a type of spatial subdivision problem similar to covering and packing. Filling addresses the optimal placement of overlapping objects lying entirely inside an arbitrary shape so as to cover the most interior volume. In n-dimensional

How the Experts Algorithm Can Help Solve LPs Online [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the problem of solving packing/covering LPs online, when the columns of the constraint matrix are presented in random order. This problem has received much attention and the main focus is to figure out how large the right-hand sides of the ...
