Analysis of Energy Loss Characteristics of Vertical Axial Flow Pump Based on Entropy Production Method under Partial Conditions

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The energy loss of the vertical axial flow pump device increases due to the unstable internal flow, which reduces the efficiency of the pump device and increases its energy consumption of the pump device.

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

Entropy production in an energy balance Daisyworld model

open access: yes, 2008
Daisyworld is a simple mathematical model of a planetary system that exhibits self-regulation due to the nature of feedback between life and its environment.

Thermodynamic Analysis of Bistability in Rayleigh–Bénard Convection

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Bistability is often encountered in association with dissipative systems far from equilibrium, such as biological, physical, and chemical phenomena.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Maximum entropy PDF projection: A review

open access: yes, 2022
Art. 070001We review maximum entropy (MaxEnt) PDF projection, a method with wide potential applications in statistical inference. The method constructs a sampling distribution for a high-dimensional vector x based on knowing the sampling distribution p(z)

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Maximum Entropy Production and Maximum Shannon Entropy as Germane Principles for the Evolution of Enzyme Kinetics

open access: yes, 2013
There have been many attempts to use optimization approaches to study the biological evolution of enzyme kinetics. Our basic assumption here is that the biological evolution of catalytic cycle fluxes between enzyme internal functional states is accompanied by increased entropy production of the fluxes and increased Shannon information entropy of the ...

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).
