Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

A novel efficient estimator for three‐dimensional bearings‐only source localisation with unknown sensor altitude and systematic measurement errors

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
A novel two‐stage profile maximum likelihood estimator is proposed to estimate the source location and the systematic errors jointly, with the aim of addressing the problem of source localisation using angle‐only measurements from a single sensor with ...

Method of estimation of frequency parameters of ultra-wideband signals with an unknown spectrum shape in the presence of interference

open access: yesФизика волновых процессов и радиотехнические системы
Background. One of the urgent tasks of processing ultra-wideband signals is the assessment of their frequency parameters in complex signal-noise conditions. Aim.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Generalized Exponential Distribution As a Lifetime Model under Different Loss Functions

open access: yesData Science Journal, 2009
Bayes estimates of the unknown parameter and the reliability function for the generalized exponential model are derived. Bayes estimates are obtained under various losses such as the squared error, the absolute error, the squared log error, and the ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Frequency Diversity Array for DOA Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2017
The localization of targets has been presented in this article. DOA (Direction of Arrival) is an important parameter to be determined by radar. The MLE (Maximum Likelihood Estimator) has been widely used to accurately and efficiently estimate the DOAs ...

A Bivariate Discrete Lindley Distribution and Applications [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العلمية للدراسات والبحوث المالية والتجارية
In this paper a bivariate discrete Lindley distribution has been derived from a discrete Lindely distribution using Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern copula. Some properties of this distribution such as probability generating function, conditional distributions,

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Properties and Inference for a New Class of Generalized Rayleigh Distributions with an Application

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2019
In the present paper, we introduce a new form of generalized Rayleigh distribution called the Alpha Power generalized Rayleigh (APGR) distribution by following the idea of extension of the distribution families with the Alpha Power transformation.
