Maximum Swelling of the Surface of the Composite Material

Materials Science Forum, 2021
This article proposes a method for quantitative assessment of a multilayer material interaction with a solvent. It is proposed to assess the effect of solvents on the material by the value of its surface's maximum swelling. The advantage of this method is that the determined value of the outer layer's maximum surface swelling does not depend on the ...

Swelling of Wood. Part III. Effect of Temperature and Extractives on Rate and Maximum Swelling

hfsg, 1995
Summary Wood swelling Rate of wood swelling The swelling of wood in organic liquids at elevated temperatures has been investigated with the use of Activation energy of wood a computerized linear variable displacement transformer (LVDT). Wood swelled extremely fast at high swelling temperatures.

Micelle-smectic phase coexistence: Origin of the maximum swelling of a mixed lamellar phase

The European Physical Journal B, 1998
We use the water corner of the model ternary system water/DDAB (a cationic double tailed surfactant)/LS (an uncharged single chain glycolipid) to investigate maximum swelling of a charged lamellar phase. The phase diagram is determined by visual observation and small angle neutron scattering.

The Influence of the Amount of the Surplus Liquid on the Swelling Maximum of Rubber Jellies

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1929
Abstract It has been shown that the so-called “Bodenkörper” effect is caused in the case of rubber by the rubber itself being present in the outside liquid. Rubber swells to a less extent if the solvent contains some dissolved rubber. This effect is reversible if the swollen jelly is placed into solvent containing rubber. An osmotic assumption

Radiation embrittlement of the materials of fuel assemblies in the temperature range corresponding to maximum swelling

Soviet Atomic Energy, 1990
The efficiency of the fuel assemblies of the fast reactors is determined to a large extent by the resistance of the materials of the jackets and the sheaths to radiational swelling and embrittlement. The effect of swelling on the mechanical properties of the 0KhI6NI5M3B steel was established in our previous study [i].

Reformation of conjugated polymer chains toward maximum effective conjugation lengths by quasi-swelling and recrystallization approach

Soft Matter, 2011
A combined quasi-swelling and recrystallization (QSRC) approach is developed to alter distorted segments of conjugated polymer into highly ordered crystalline domains with super-long effective conjugation lengths (>100mer). These highly extended conjugated chains, at their maximum, are expected to have important implications for photonic and electronic

Swelling of Nitrile Rubber Vulcanizates-Part 3: Factors Affecting Maximum Swelling

Journal of Elastomers & Plastics, 1993
As found from previous studies, a Gaussian curve describes the swelling, by various liquids, of a series of nitrile rubbers containing from 0 to 50% bound acrylonitrile. If only dispersion forces are involved, it is found that the value of maximum swelling is inversely proportional to the molar volume of the liquid causing the swelling.

Energy Distribution of Shallow Water Swell under the Maximum Probability Condition

1988
A statistical approach is suggested to determine theoretically the energy distribution of the shallow water swell having a pronounced nonlinearity and finite spectral band-width. The approach is based on two assumptions; they are: i) the swell is approximately representable as a train of random solitons which are governed by the Korteweg-de Vries ...

Simulation of the Swelling of High-Volatile Bituminous Coal during Pyrolysis. Part 2: Influence of the Maximum Particle Temperature

Energy & Fuels, 2015
A model was established previously to predict the swelling ratio of high-volatile bituminous coal during pyrolysis based on the assumption that the structure of bubble distribution in the particle at the beginning of the plastic stage is a central bubble surrounded by many surrounding bubbles.
