Development of an Inhalation Intake Model for 241Am Based on Mayak Production Association Worker Data

Health Physics, 2013
Americium-241 is a significant radiation hazard at facilities that handle or reprocess spent nuclear fuels. An inhalation intake model for 241Am was developed using autopsy data obtained from former workers at the Radiochemical and Plutonium Production Plants at the Mayak Production Association (Mayak PA), Ozyorsk, Russia.

UNCERTAINTIES ANALYSIS OF DOSES RESULTING FROM CHRONIC INHALATION OF PLUTONIUM AT THE MAYAK PRODUCTION ASSOCIATION

Health Physics, 2005
A method is presented to determine the uncertainties in the reported dose due to incorporated plutonium for the Mayak Worker Cohort. The methodology includes errors generated by both detection methods and modeling methods. To accomplish the task, the method includes classical statistics, Monte Carlo, perturbation, and reliability groupings ...

The structure of leukemia in the personnel employed at the production Association “Mayak” in 1948-1958

Russian Journal of Occupational Health and Industrial Ecology, 2020
The spectrum of leucosis among the workers of the first production facility of Russian atomic industry employed in the period of production development - 1948-1958 is presented. The characteristic of the latent period of malignant neoplasms of hematopoietic tissue and individual accumulated doses of external gamma irradiation of personnel with ...

Sorption of Pu(IV) in the polymeric colloidal form on rock typical of Mayak Production Association area

Radiochemistry, 2009
Sorption of colloids of polymeric Pu from simulated groundwater on a rock typical of Mayak Production Association area was studied. In 20 days, polymeric Pu with the particle size exceeding 220 nm is 99% sorbed by the rock with the distribution coefficient Kd = 1880.

Accumulation, organ distribution, and excretion kinetics of ²⁴¹Am in Mayak Production Association workers.

Health physics, 2013
Americium-241 (²⁴¹Am) is the second most significant radiation hazard after ²³⁹Pu at some of the Mayak Production Association facilities. This study summarizes current data on the accumulation, distribution, and excretion of americium compared with plutonium in different organs from former Mayak PA workers.

Use of In Vivo Counting Measurements to Estimate Internal Doses From 241Am in Workers from the Mayak Production Association

Health Physics, 2014
Comparisons between results of in vivo counting measurements of americium burden and results from radiochemical analyses of organ samples taken at autopsy of 11 cases of former Mayak workers were made. The in vivo counting measurements were performed 3-8 y before death.

Effect of Inorganic Anions on the Physicochemical State of Radionuclides in Process Freshwater Basins at the Mayak Production Association

Radiochemistry, 2001
Published data on the speciation of microcomponents and radionuclides (calcium, strontium, plutonium, and americium) in the water and bottom sediments of selected process water basins at the Mayak Production Association were discussed in terms of the model of the sorption behavior of a sorbate existing in several forms.

[Role of occupational radiation in oncologic morbidity among "Mayak" production association workers].

Meditsina truda i promyshlennaia ekologiia, 2009
Retrospective study with "case-control" method revealed increased risk of gastric cancer among "Mayak" production association workers subjected to prolonged general external gamma-radiation in overall dose over 3.0 Gy. Major role in gaster cancer among "Mayak" production association workers was played by nonradiation factors: chronic gastritis with ...
