The Role of Bubbles in Air‐Sea Gas Exchange: A Critical Review

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Air‐sea gas exchange regulates the exchange of climatically important gases between the ocean and the atmosphere, shaping both climate and ocean biogeochemistry. Bubbles beneath the sea surface enhance this exchange by introducing an additional transfer pathway in parallel to the interfacial transfer route.

ASSOCIATIONS BETWEEN CLINICAL FUNCTIONING AND AD BIOMARKERS AMONG HISPANIC AND WHITE NON-HISPANIC OLDER ADULTS [PDF]

open access: yesInnov Aging, 2023
Objectives: Hispanics are 1.5x more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease (AD) when compared to White non-Hispanics (WNHs). There is also evidence to support that cognitive performance disproportionately reflects neuropathology among Hispanics and that ...

Upper and small bowel Crohn's disease in Brazilian children: Phenotypic characteristic and surgical risk

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 83, Issue 1, Page 87-95, July 2026.
Abstract Objectives Upper and small bowel Crohn's disease (U‐SBCD) represents a clinically aggressive phenotype with high complication rates yet remains diagnostically challenging. In low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), limited inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) awareness contributes to diagnostic delays, but their impact on U‐SBCD outcomes remains

Parameterizing air–sea CO2 transfer in a macroalgal habitat and assessing its role in marine carbon dioxide removal accounting

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Accurately quantifying air–sea CO2 exchange remains a central challenge for the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of marine carbon dioxide removal. I apply direct eddy covariance measurements of CO2 fluxes at a macroalgae‐dominated coast to compile the first gas transfer velocity (k660) parameterization for such a habitat.

Filling the monitoring gap: aquatic ecosystem metabolism as a cost-effective, scalable tool for assessing marine carbon dioxide removal

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) is an emerging climate mitigation solution increasingly recognized as necessary to supplement greenhouse gas emission reductions.

Investigating the cognitive demand levels in probability and counting principles learning tasks from an online mathematics textbook

open access: yesPythagoras, 2022
This case study carried out during the 2020 coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown used online data collection means to investigate the distribution of cognitive demand levels of probability and counting principles (PCP) learning tasks in a ...

Economic Assessment of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement Through Electrodialysis: The Role of Carbon Credits in Comparing Solar Energy and Thermal Waste Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study evaluates the economic feasibility of an Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) plant with an annual CO2 removal capacity of 878 tonnes. The project is profitable only under scenarios with high carbon credit prices, while medium and low‐price scenarios yield a negative net present value.

Implementation of marine CO2 removal for climate mitigation: The challenges of additionality, predictability, and governability [PDF]

open access: yes
Achieving net zero CO2 emissions requires gigatonne-scale atmospheric CO2 removal (CDR) to balance residual emissions that are extremely difficult to eliminate.

Protecting against impoverishment risks in the mining industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter is concerned with the economic and social safeguarding of people displaced by large-scale mining activities. The authors argue that the generalised nature of current global policy norms for development-caused forced displacement and ...

Homoisoflavonoids—From Natural Specificity and Biosynthesis to Precision Health‐Promoting Mechanisms

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Homoisoflavonoids are rare flavonoids with a unique bi‐aromatic oxygen‐heterocyclic structure. This review synthesizes their structure–activity relationships in anti‐inflammatory, hypoglycemic, and anticancer contexts. By highlighting their specific natural distribution and outlining biosynthetic pathways, it provides a conceptual framework and ...
