Targeting Nfix to fix muscular dystrophies

open access: yesCell Stress, 2017
Muscular dystrophies (MDs) are still incurable heterogeneous diseases, characterized by muscle wasting, replacement by fibrotic tissue, and increasing weakness, which in severe cases, such as Duchenne MD, lead to premature death. MDs are due to mutations

Leveraging legacy codes to distributed problem solving environments: A web service approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper describes techniques used to leverage high performance legacy codes as CORBA components to a distributed problem solving environment. It first briefly introduces the software architecture adopted by the environment.

LCD MDS Codes From Cyclic Codes

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2019
Abstract Linear codes with complementary-duals (LCD) have many applications in cryptography, communication systems and data storage. A q-ary linear code C is called LCD if C∩C⊥ = {0} holds. Using method of coset theory, we deduce a characterization of LCD cyclic code by its defining set. Then two families of q-ary MDS cyclic LCD codes with lengthes n|

New quantum MDS codes [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Information, 2014
In this paper, we construct two classes of new quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes with parameters [Formula: see text], where q is an odd prime power with q ≡ 3 (mod 4) and [Formula: see text]; [[8(q - 1), 8(q - 1) - 2d + 2, d]]q, where q is an odd prime power with the form q = 8t - 1 (t is an even positive integer) and [Formula: see text].

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Additive MDS codes

open access: yes, 2022
We prove that an additive code over a finite field which has a few projections which are equivalent to a linear code is itself equivalent to a linear code, providing the code is not too short.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A Matrix-Theoretic Approach to the Construction of Reversible DNA Codes Over F₄²t

open access: yesIEEE Access
Let $n,k$ , and t be the positive integers. The primary aim of this paper is to introduce a new approach for the construction of reversible and reversible DNA codes using the concept of double-reflected matrices of any matrices over a commutative ring ...
