Meal to meal energy balance in rats
Physiology & Behavior, 1984Meal to meal energy balance was examined in thirty-eight simultaneous recordings of feeding pattern and O2 consumption in six rats. The mean difference between energy intake in a meal and energy expenditure until the onset of the next meal was found positive at night and negative during day time.

A new methodology is introduced that allows the design of meal solutions (such as chilled and frozen ready meals, menu choices in catering and food service) based on empirical assessments of fit between meal centres and side components. The necessary input data are collected by means of a consumer survey.

AbstractSafflower meal from undecorticated commercial seed is useful feed for ruminant animals. Its low energy content is a problem in poultry and swine rations.Partially decorticated meals are valuable for ruminants and are also quite suitable in poultry rations if provision is made for extra metabolizable calories, and if other feed ingredients ...

Rivaroxaban is increasingly used to treat patients with acute venous thromboembolism (VTE), a potentially life-threatening condition. Because absorption of rivaroxaban decreases from nearly 100% to 66% under fasting conditions, it is recommended that VTE patients take rivaroxaban with a meal.

Effects of Meals and Meal Composition on the Bioavailability of Fenretinide
The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1992The effects of meals and meal composition on the bioavailability of fenretinide, N‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl) retinamide, a synthetic retinoid undergoing clinical trials, were examined in two separate studies using an open, randomized, crossover design. In the first study, 13 healthy male volunteers received 300‐mg doses of fenretinide (1) while fasting and (2)
