Evaluating use of extant species response to invasive predator control as an indicator of functional eradication to support species reintroductions

The removal of brown treesnakes resulted in an increase in the number of lizards already present that were counted in a treated area. We used this increase as a trigger to reintroduce three lizard species no longer present in the area, likely due to predation by the snake. Leaders Are Somethin' Else: Behavioural Variation Associated With Roles During Tandem Running Recruitment

In this study, we found moderate to strong repeatabilities in behavioural variables measuring the personality traits: activity, aggressiveness and exploration. Similarly, the probability of acting as a leader during tandem running in an emigration event was moderately (R = 0.469) repeatable.

From biology to biotechnology: Host‐regulation factors from parasitoid wasps are a source of bioactive molecules with translational potential

Parasitoid wasps deploy maternal and embryonic factors to reprogramme host physiology. Venom, calyx fluid, polydnaviruses, teratocytes and larval secretions act in a coordinated, compartmentalised manner. Host‐regulation factors are promising sources of insecticidal, antimicrobial and bioinspired translational molecules.

Defecation in preparation for ecdysis drives microplastic clearance in cricket nymphs

In preparation for ecdysis, cricket nymphs cease feeding and gradually clear their gut contents via frass production, which removes most ingested MPs from their digestive tract. Following exoskeletal moulting, the foregut lining, including any remaining MPs, is shed and excreted alongside frass approximately 6 h later.
