BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Impact of poloidal convective cells on momentum flux in tokamaks

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
Radial fluxes of parallel momentum due to $E\times B$ and magnetic drifts are shown to be correlated in tokamak plasmas. This correlation comes from the onset of poloidal convective cells generated by turbulence.

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Planar Waves of the Buffered Bistable System

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
This paper is concerned with the large time behavior of disturbed planar fronts in the buffered bistable system in ℝn (n≥2). We first show that the large time behavior of the disturbed fronts can be approximated by that of the mean curvature flow with a

Ice flow line maps of three large freshwater calving glaciers in the Southern Patagonian Icefield [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The Southern Patagonian Icefield is experiencing rapid retreat and thinning in its calving glaciers. To better understand the dynamics of these changes, we generated ice flow line maps for the Viedma, Upsala, and Pio XI glaciers during 2017–2018 ...

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

Annuloids and Δ-wings

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies
We describe new annular examples of complete translating solitons for the mean curvature flow and how they are related to a family of translating graphs, the Δ-wings.

Uniqueness Theorem for non-compact mean curvature flow with possibly unbounded curvatures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this paper, we discuss uniqueness and backward uniqueness for mean curvature flow of non-compact manifolds. We use an energy argument to prove two uniqueness theorems for mean curvature flow with possibly unbounded curvatures. These generalize the results by Chen and Yin. Using similar method, we also obtain a uniqueness result on Ricci flows.
