DETERMINATION OF MEAN ENVIRONMENTAL RADIANT TEMPERATURES FOR PREMATURE NEONATES NURSED UNDER RADIANT WARMERS [PDF]
Infants nursed under radiant warmers are exposed to significant quantities of short wavelength, infrared power density distributed over their skin surface facing the heating element. The remainder of infant skin surface not facing the warmer is exposed to the walls of the nursery which are cooler than the skin, resulting in radiant heat loss in a ...

Mean radiant temperature from global-scale numerical weather prediction models [PDF]
AbstractIn human biometeorology, the estimation of mean radiant temperature (MRT) is generally considered challenging. This work presents a general framework to compute the MRT at the global scale for a human subject placed in an outdoor environment and irradiated by solar and thermal radiation both directly and diffusely.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Visualizing Changes in Mean Radiant Temperature with the SMART Sensor
Mean Radiant Temperature (MRT) is difficult to measure but plays an important role in thermal comfort. As more buildings install radiative heating and cooling surfaces, there is a need for better sensors to accurately characterize MRT.

We show that emergence of castration‐resistant prostate (CRPC) is associated with significant upregulation of cyclins that positively regulate cyclin‐dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) and concomitant downregulation of CDK4 cyclins. This renders CRPC cells dependent on the high activity of CDK2, and CDK2 inhibitors synergistically sensitize CRPC cells to both ...

Comfort aspects in buildings supplied by radiant systems with mechanical ventilation [PDF]
The purpose of HVAC systems in buildings is to provide comfortable conditions in indoor environments. Their interaction with the room depends on the working principle and the mode they exchange sensible and latent heat with the indoor environment.

Experimental evaluation of phase change material in radiant cooling panels integrated with thermoelectric modules [PDF]
This study proposes a phase change material for use in radiant cooling panels integrated with thermoelectric modules (PCM–TERCP) and evaluates its performance characteristics during the solidification and melting process of phase change materials in ...
