Bounds for compound distributions based on mean residual lifetimes and equilibrium distributions
Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, 1997The author establishes bounds for the right tail of the total claims distribution. Upper, lower and moment based Pareto bounds are obtained. Estimates are given in terms of the equilibrium distribution and the mean residual lifetime. Some generalizations with higher-order equilibrium distributions are given.

The mean general residual lifetime of (n − k + 1)-out-of-n systems with exchangeable components
Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2016ABSTRACTThe study of the reliability properties of (n − k + 1)-out-of-n systems has gained a great deal of attention, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. In this article, we consider (n − k + 1)-out-of-n systems with exchangeable components and study the stochastic properties of two forms of residual lifetimes of such systems under the ...

AbstractIn this paper, we consider a k-out-of-n system consisting of n identical components with independent lifetimes. We show that when the underlying distribution function F(t) is absolutely continuous, then it can be univocally determined by some particular mean residual lives or mean inactivity times of the system.

Summary: The parallel systems are special important types of coherent structures and have many applications in various areas. In this paper, we consider a two-exchangeable-component parallel system for the generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (generalized FGM) distribution.

In this paper, we consider the mean residual lifetime of two-component parallel systems in the case of possibly dependent components. We provide some results and examine the behavior of the mean residual life function at the system level for the bivariate Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) distribution.
