Carbon Contacts to Proteins Enable Robust, Biocompatible Electronic Junctions with Near‐Activation‐less Conduction Down to 10 K

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust solid‐state protein junction with a semi‐transparent eC/Au electrode allows photoexcitation of the bacterio‐rhodopsin, bR layer, to isomerize the bR retinal. The resulting photo‐response shows the protein is functional in the solid‐state junction.

On the Profitability of Optimal Mean Reversion Trading Strategies

open access: yes, 2016
We study the profitability of optimal mean reversion trading strategies in the US equity market. Different from regular pair trading practice, we apply maximum likelihood method to construct the optimal static pairs trading portfolio that best fits the ...

Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

An Equilibrium Theory of Excess Volatility and Mean Reversion in Stock Market Prices [PDF]

open access: yes
Apparent mean reversion and excess volatility in stock market prices can be reconciled with the Efficient Market Hypothesis by specifying investor preferences that give rise to the demand for portfolio insurance.

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds to Engineer the Dormant Landscape of Microscopic Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized liver extracellular matrix scaffolds provide a platform to study dormant liver‐metastatic colorectal cancer. They induce reversible dormancy, in combination with nutrient depletion and low dose chemotherapy, through cell cycle arrest and chemotherapy resistance.

Portfolio rebalancing error with jumps and mean reversion in asset prices

open access: yesStochastic Systems, 2011
We analyze the error between a discretely rebalanced portfolio and its continuously rebalanced counterpart in the presence of jumps or mean-reversion in the underlying asset dynamics.

Investor Rationality: Evidence from UK Property Capitalization Rates [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent analyses have suggested the irrationality of investors in Australian and U.S. office properties. More specifically, investors have failed to raise capitalization rates sufficiently at rental cyclical peaks to account for the obvious mean reversion

Few‐Layered Conductive Graphene Foams for Electrical Transdifferentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Into Schwann Cell‐Like Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Few‐layered three dimansional conductive graphene foams are promising cytocompatible platforms to transdifferentiate mesenchymal stem cells into Schwann cell‐like phenotypes using electrical and microstructural cues. Applied electrical stimulation conditions resulted in activation of MAPK, neurotrphin and RAS signaling pathways that led to upregulation
