Robust Sum MSE Optimization for Downlink Multiuser MIMO Systems with Arbitrary Power Constraint: Generalized Duality Approach

open access: yes, 2012
This paper considers linear minimum meansquare- error (MMSE) transceiver design problems for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems where imperfect channel state information is available at the base station (BS) and mobile ...

PRIME: Phase Retrieval via Majorization-Minimization

open access: yes, 2015
This paper considers the phase retrieval problem in which measurements consist of only the magnitude of several linear measurements of the unknown, e.g., spectral components of a time sequence.

Filterbank optimization with convex objectives and the optimality of principal component forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper proposes a general framework for the optimization of orthonormal filterbanks (FBs) for given input statistics. This includes as special cases, many previous results on FB optimization for compression. It also solves problems that have not been

Pilot Optimization and Channel Estimation for Multiuser Massive MIMO Systems

open access: yes, 2014
This paper proposes novel pilot optimization and channel estimation algorithm for the downlink multiuser massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system with $K$ decentralized single antenna mobile stations (MSs), and time division duplex (TDD ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Correlated bandits or: How to minimize mean-squared error online

open access: yes, 2019
While the objective in traditional multi-armed bandit problems is to find the arm with the highest mean, in many settings, finding an arm that best captures information about other arms is of interest. This objective, however, requires learning the underlying correlation structure and not just the means of the arms.

Optimal Tx-BF for MIMO SC-FDE Systems

open access: yes, 2013
Transmit beamforming (Tx-BF) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels is an effective means to improve system performance. In frequency-selective channels, Tx-BF can be implemented in combination with single-carrier frequency-domain ...

Robust precoder design in MISO downlink based on quadratic channel estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In [1], it has been proposed that channel estimates in quadratic form can be obtained at the base station by sending training sequences to the mobiles where the received signals are forwarded back to the base for channel estimation.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
