Diameter of the stochastic mean-field model of distance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We consider the complete graph $\cK_n$ on $n$ vertices with exponential mean $n$ edge lengths. Writing $C_{ij}$ for the weight of the smallest-weight path between vertex $i,j\in [n]$, Janson showed that $\max_{i,j\in [n]} C_{ij}/\log{n}$ converges in ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FECUNDITY AND BIOMETRIC INDICES OF THE SILVER CATFISH Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus (Lacepede) IN THE CROSS RIVER ESTUARY, NIGERIA [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Fisheries, 2013
The relationship between fecundity and biometric parameters of silver catfish, Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus from the Cross River estuary was studied between July and October 2012. A total of 120 gravid female fish were examined.

Soil water repellency changes with depth and relationship to physical properties within wettable and repellent soil profiles

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2017
This study explored the effect of soil water repellency (SWR) on soil hydrophysical properties with depth. Soils were sampled from two distinctly wettable and water repellent soil profiles at depth increments from 0-60 cm. The soils were selected because

Effect of community-based soil and water conservation practices on soil glomalin, aggregate size distribution, aggregate stability and aggregate-associated organic carbon in northern highlands of Ethiopia

open access: yesAgriculture & Food Security, 2018
Background Land degradation is a major and widespread problem causing losses of ecosystem services in Ethiopia. Extensive utilization of the land resources for centuries resulted in severe land degradation in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Soil wetting effects on fallow and cropland in three different soil types of the Czech Republic

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2016
This paper brings the comparison of characteristic changes of cropland and of land that has been left fallow for ten years. The disruption of soil structure (MWD) was tested and correlated with basic soil parameters (soil texture, soil hydraulic ...

Responses of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants to iron deficiency in the root zone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Iron deficiency induces a yellowing in the aerial part of plants, known as iron chlorosis, and reduces the growth, yield, and quality of the fruits. Understanding plant response to iron deficiency is essential for agronomic management. This study decoded
