Measurement errors in medical research

open access: yesPayesh, 2010
To address research questions, measuring variables are neccessary. However, every measurement is prone to different types of measurement errors. Therefore, understanding about the different types of measurement errors are a great of importance This paper

Adjusting for covariates representing potential confounders, mediators, or competing predictors in the presence of measurement error: Dispelling a potential misapprehension and insights for optimal study design with nutritional epidemiology examples [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research
Background Variables such as dietary intake are measured with error yet frequently used in observational epidemiology. Although this limitation is sometimes noted, these variables are still often modeled as covariates without formal correction or sincere

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

New Measurement Error Data Structures

open access: yes, 2017
This is a survey overview on some relatively recent measurement error data structures, and brief discussions of how might one analyze them. Problems include (a) mixtures of continuous and discrete variables both subject to error; (b) problems in which ...

Reflection method of estimation for measurement error models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper proposes an estimation method based on the reflection of the (manifest) explanatory variable to estimate the parameters of a simple linear regression model when both response and explanatory variables are subject to measurement error (ME). The

Relative Efficiency of Maximum Likelihood and Other Estimators in a Nonlinear Regression Model with Small Measurement Errors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We compare the asymptotic covariance matrix of the ML estimator in a nonlinear measurement error model to the asymptotic covariance matrices of the CS and SQS estimators studied in Kukush et al (2002). For small measurement error variances they are equal

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Concept and architecture of a new apparatus for cylindrical form measurement with a nanometric level of accuracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In relation to the industrial need and to the progress of technology, Laboratoire National de M´etrologie et d’Essais (LNE) would like to improve the measurement of its primary pressure standards, spherical and flick standards.

Evaluasi Kinerja Alat Ukur Tinggi Muka Air Otomatis Menggunakan Kalibrator Di Laboratorium

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Hidraulik, 2019
Water resources infrastructure development requires a careful planning, one of which requires hydrological analysis. The accuracy of hydrological data is influenced by the method, operator/observer, and the performance of the measuring instrument.
