A novel signal processing algorithm for measurement while drilling (MWD) system
2021 40th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2021Measurement while drilling (MWD) is a widely used signal transmission technology in the drilling process. At present, the domestic pulse identification method is relatively simple, using the basic threshold method to identify, only set the threshold which will leading a number of missing detection mud pulse in the complex working conditions.

The use of the Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tool in formation evaluation has proved invaluable in terms of operational cost, time and reliability of data. The tool suffers less from invasion effect when compared to conventional wireline tools and so can be deployed in hostile borehole environments.

Abstract EM-MWD systems transmit downhole data via an information channel composed of drill string and formation, and the formation has a strong attenuation effect on the signal. Signal attenuation in EM wave transmission in the formation limits the application well depth.

Measurement-While-Drilling MWD Error Model Validation – Does the Model Reflect Reality?
SPE/IADC International Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2021Abstract It has been well documented that magnetic models and Measurement-while-Drilling (MWD) directional sensors are not free from error. It is for this reason that directional surveys are accompanied by an error model that is used to generate an ellipse of uncertainty (EOU).

ABSTRACT In October of 1982, after drilling the seventh well on the Cerveza platform in offshore Texas waters, nearly four days were spent attempting to record wireline logs. Getting wireline logs to total depth was typical of problems on previous wells in this area.
