Wholesale-Retail Marketing Margin Behavior in the Beef and Pork Industries [PDF]

An econometric model is used to estimate real wholesale-retail marketing margins for beef and pork. From 1970 to 1998, these margins increased by 27% and 149%, while farm-wholesale margins declined.

Genetically‐Programmed Hypervesiculation of Lactiplantibacillus Plantarum Increases Production of Bacterial Extracellular Vesicles with Therapeutic Efficacy in a Preclinical Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model

The development of a novel engineered strain of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (Lp) is reported that can produce bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) at >60‐fold higher yields than the unmodified parental strain. These Lp BEVs retain therapeutic bioactivity as validated in a mouse model of dextran sodium sulfate‐induced colitis.

Combined Photothermal and mTOR‐Targeted Therapy Overcomes Immune Evasion and Enhances Checkpoint Blockade Efficacy in Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

This study reveals that photothermal therapy, while inducing immunogenic cell death in triple‐negative breast cancer, paradoxically activates the oncogenic mTOR pathway to drive immune evasion. To counter this, a smart nanocomposite is engineered to co‐deliver localized hyperthermia and mTOR inhibition.
