Mechanical characterization of the bovine iris
Journal of Biomechanics, 1999Quantification of the mechanical properties of the iris is necessary to assess the clinical significance of passive iris deformation, which has been suggested as a mechanism for certain forms of glaucoma. Extension tests were performed on isolated bovine irises to determine the passive mechanical behavior of the iris and the contribution of each of its

Characterization of Psz by Fracture Mechanics
2008Both deterministic and probabilistic fracture mechanics are applied for PSZ ceramics in bending. Comparison is given between realibility levels achieved with different sensitivities in NDE and fracture mechanics estimates of the critical flaw size. Implications for practical quality assessment are discussed.

Mechanical characterization of biodegradable implants
Clinical Materials, 1992The mechanical properties of degradable implant materials are low in comparison to metals used in orthopaedic surgery. There are possibilities to improve the strength of degradable implants by self-fibre-reinforcement, high molecular weight or special manufacturing processes.

Structural and Mechanical Characterization of Composites
Polimeri : časopis za plastiku i gumu, 1998The characterization of composites such as carbon/epoxy laminates is significant in estimating the reliability and life-time assessment of the components of mechanical structures. The examination of composite microstructure is performed by the image automatic processing method, using the image analyzer to determine the influence of the results on the ...

Mechanical Characterization of Graphene
2014The emergence of monolayer carbon atom sheets, graphene, as a next generation advanced material, has potential applications in promising fields such as composite materials and energy storage. Graphene has exceptional mechanical properties, the most notable of which are ultrahigh strength and yield strain.

1996
Thin dielectric films (silicon oxides) and metallic films (aluminum- and tungsten-based alloys) used in microelectronics can be subject to high residual stresses that are likely to cause irreversible damage. Residual stresses within silicon film-substrate systems were determined by measuring the radius of curvature.

Mechanical Characterization of Aerogels
2011Aerogels are multifunctional porous nanostructured materials (e.g., thermally/acoustically insulating) derived from their vast internal empty space and their high specific surface area. Under certain conditions, aerogels may also have exceptional specific mechanical properties as well.

Characterizations of the pivotal mechanism
Journal of Public Economics, 1986The pivotal mechanism is strategyproof (demand revealing) in public decision problems where preferences are quasi-linear. Moreover, no agent has an incentive to “free ride” by withdrawing from the committee and consuming whatever decision is taken by the remaining agents. Strategyproofness plus No Free Ride characterize the pivotal mechanism.

Mechanical Characterization of MEMS
2016Characterization of microelectromechanical systems, MEMS structures is important for their reliability, specifically for life-sustaining applications. Due to size effect, testing must be done at microscale under the same conditions the components are utilized.
