Automotive battery pack manufacturing – a review of battery to tab joining

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Joining Processes, 2020
Automotive battery packs used for electromobility applications consist of a large number of individual battery cells that are interconnected. Interconnection of the battery cells creates an electrical and mechanical connection, which can be realised by ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Alternative end-joining mechanisms: a historical perspective [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2013
In the presence of functional DNA repair pathways, DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are mainly repaired by non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ) or homologous recombination (HR), two conserved pathways that protect cells from aberrant chromosomal rearrangements.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Mechanical performance of composite bonded joints in the presence of localised process-induced zero-thickness defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Processing parameters and environmental conditions can introduce variation into the performance of adhesively bonded joints. The effect of such variation on the mechanical performance of the joints is not well understood.

Failure mechanics of joined rock mass [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on Ecology and the Environment, Vol 90, 2006
Failure of rock mass is not a static process, but has its own history. Its duration varies from several seconds to several hundreds years. Rock mass movements are often hundreds of metres and significantly change its original shape. Failure mechanics can be studied experimentally.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Изучение смешанного потенциала в необратимых окислительно-восстановительных системах [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Current product development showing an ever shrinking physical volume is asking for new, reliable joining technologies. Laser beam technologies conceal innovative solutions to overcome limitations of conventional joining technologies.

Mechanism for Joining V and C Genes [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1970
I WOULD like to suggest an alternative to the mechanism suggested by Gally and Edelman1 for the joining of the V gene to the C gene. This mechanism has three principal features: (1) no “cross-over” event (for excision and integration) is required; (2) the joined product, the coupled VC into one gene, could either be an RNA or a DNA molecule; and (3 ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...
