Mechanical effects in peel adhesion test

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 1989
—Mechanical effects in the peel strength of a thin film have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. It has been found that the adhesion strength measured by the peel test is a practical adhesion (an engineering strength per unit width) and does not represent the true interface adhesion strength.

PERFORMANCE AND MECHANISM OF METHYLENE BLUE BIOSORPTION ON ORANGE PEEL

Environmental Technology, 2008
Biosorption of Methylene Blue (MB) from aqueous solution using orange peel biosorbent was experimentally investigated. The effects of dye concentration, solution pH, salt concentration and contact time were investigated in a batch model. The results showed that adsorption equilibrium was reached within one hour at two initial MB concentrations (200 and

The influence of peel angle on the mechanics of peeling flexible adherends with arbitrary load–extension characteristics

Tribology International, 2005
Abstract The peel test is commonly used to determine the strength of adhesive joints. In its simplest form, a thin flexible strip which has been bonded to a rigid surface is peeled from the substrate at a constant rate and the peeling force which is applied to the debonding surfaces by the tension in the tape is measured.

The mechanism of color fading in sunburned apple peel

Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 2018
The effect of sunburn on apple fruit is important because the appearance reduces the market value. Previous studies have shown that high temperature and strong light are the major causes for its occurrence and severity, and the color change of the peel is an obvious symptom of fruit sunburn.

Peel mechanics of adhesive strips with constraints

International Journal of Fracture, 1978
The peel force as a function of displacement was determined for debonding inextensible adhesive strips with an extensible boundary constraint. Using differential energy balance methods, a closed form expression for the peel force was obtained and found to be in excellent agreement with experimental studies.

RATE LIMITING MECHANISMS IN CAUSTIC POTATO PEELING

Journal of Food Science, 1972
The caustic peeling rates of potatoes is considered from an analytical and experimental point of view. The analysis considers the process to be governed by the competing rates of mass transport within the potato (diffusion) and chemical reaction. The chemical reaction between caustic and chlorogenic acid is singled out for analysis since the product of

On the mechanics of laser peeling for ultra-thin glasses

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2016
Abstract Laser peeling is a surface defect removal process involving irradiating laser pulses on edges of ultra-thin glasses. Mechanical- or laser-cutting induced edge defects on glass edges are removed by peeling off a thin layer containing the cutting defects.

Study on optimization of mechanical peeling for sweet potato

Agricultural Engineering Today
The aim of this research work was to optimize the machine parameters of a commercially available tuber peeler for peeling of sweet potato to get maximum yield with minimum loss. The process was proposed for different parameters such as peeling efficiency, material loss and peeling effectiveness at different speeds of rotating disc (300, 400 and 500 rev/

Elastic Fracture Mechanics of the Peel-Test Geometry

The Journal of Adhesion, 1992
Abstract The results of a linear-elastic analysis to determine the phase angle at the tip of an interface crack in the peel test are presented in this paper. The phase angle is fairly insensitive to the peel angle and, when the film and substrate have identical elastic properties, the mode-I and mode-II components of the crack-tip stress field are ...
