Ultrasonic technique for express estimating the mechanical properties of the rolled copper plates

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999
Measurement possibilities of moving rolled copper sheets phisical-mechenical characteristics are proved. Measurement method of mean grain size is presented. For 99,9% purity copper Hall-Petch’s relation is obtained. Using this equation one can determine yield point of materials knowing mean grain size.

Mechanical stress promotes the expression of smooth muscle-like properties in marrow stromal cells

Experimental Hematology, 2004
It is poorly understood what kind of factors are involved in lineage commitment and maturation of mesenchymal stem cells. The present study investigates whether mechanical stress promotes expression of smooth muscle cell (SMC)-specific cytoskeletal protein in marrow stromal cells.Fibroblast-like stromal cells expressing STRO-1 antigen were isolated ...

Comparison of Physico-Chemical Properties of Various Lignites Treated by Mechanical Thermal Expression

Coal Preparation, 2005
This study investigates how the Mechanical Thermal Expression (MTE) process affects the physico-chemical properties of low rank lignites sourced from Australia, Greece, and Germany. The MTE process was effective in reducing the moisture content of all three coals and resulted in significant Na reductions in both the Australian and German coals. However,

Physico-chemical properties of Loy Yang lignite dewatered by mechanical thermal expression

Fuel, 2005
Abstract Mechanical thermal expression (MTE) is a pressure dewatering process, which is carried out at elevated temperatures. The process is being investigated as a means of lowering greenhouse gas emissions from existing lignite fired power stations by reducing the moisture content of lignites.

Prediction of mechanical properties of green concrete incorporating waste foundry sand based on gene expression programming

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2020
Waste foundry sand (WFS) is a major pollutant generated from metal casting foundries and is classified as a hazardous material due to the presence of organic and inorganic pollutants which can cause adverse environmental impact. In order to promote the re-utilization of WFS, gene expression programming (GEP) has been employed in this study to develop ...

New formulations for mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete using gene expression programming

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract This paper presents new empirical models for prediction of the mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) using gene expression programming (GEP) technique. A large and reliable test database containing the results of 650 compressive strength, 421 elastic modulus, 346 splitting tensile strength, and 152 flexural strength ...

Characterization of mechanical properties of transgenic tobacco roots expressing a recombinant monoclonal antibody against tooth decay

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 2008
AbstractIn this article, we describe a new approach that allows the determination of the magnitude of force required to break single plant roots. Roots were taken from transgenic tobacco plants, expressing a secreted monoclonal antibody. They were divided into four key developmental stages.

The role and molecular mechanism of flgK gene in biological properties, pathogenicity and virulence genes expression of Aeromonas hydrophila

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Aeromonas hydrophila is a highly pathogenic aquatic resident bacterium that can cause co-morbidity in aquatic animals, waterfowl, poultry, and humans. Flagellum is the motility organ of bacteria important for bacterium tissue colonization and invasion. The flgK gene encodes a flagellar hook protein essential for normal flagellar formation.

Combined piezoelectrical – magnetostructive transducers for the express diagnostic of mechanical properties of materials

2006
This paper is dedicated to the problems of nondestructive testing of various materials. A new method which we call an adaptive contact impedance evaluation (ACIE) is discussed. It is based con mechanical contact impedance evaluation (MCIE) at the local contact area between a piezoactive sensor and specimen. The concept of smart ACIE sensors implies the
