Effects on soil properties of future settlements in downtown Mexico City due to ground water extraction [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2003
Water pumping from shallow aquifers under Mexico City causes large differential settlements. Consolidation modifies the mechanical properties of the subsoil, both static and dynamic. Approximate expressions to predict soil properties are proposed.

VEqMon2D—Equations of motion generation tool of 2D vehicles with Matlab

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2022
The tool VEqMon2D provides a framework to generate analytical expressions of equations of motion of 2D vehicle models in Matlab. Such vehicle models are mostly used in studies that focus on the infrastructure (pavement, railway tracks, bridges) and are ...

Mechanical Properties of Coco Peat Briquettes Produced through Mechanical Thermal Expression

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract Coco peat, a by-product of coir fibre extraction from coconut husks, possesses potential for diverse applications. To facilitate its handling during storage and transportation, coco peats are commonly prepared in the form of densified products. The current work is dealt with the investigation of the mechanical properties of coco

Incremental nonlinear constitutive model and parameter variation of transversely isotropic unsaturated soils

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2021
In order to establish the constitutive model that can simultaneously reflect the unsaturated state, transverse isotropy and nonlinearity of soils, the mechanical properties and constitutive models of unsaturated transverse isotropic soils are ...

Early effects of mechanical ventilation on isotonic contractile properties and MAF-box gene expression in the diaphragm [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physiology, 2005
This study aimed to determine the time-dependent effects of diaphragmatic inactivity on its maximum shortening velocity ( Vmax) and the muscle atrophy F-box (MAF-box, atrogin-1) gene expression during controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV). Twenty-four New Zealand White rabbits were grouped into 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days of CMV and controls in equal ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Mutual spectral densities calculation of the moments of resistance on the peat milling unit working bodies

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института, 2021
When performing technological operations in the peat industry, various units with milling-type working bodies are used. They differ in design, layout, number and type of cutting elements, operating modes, and may have one or more working bodies.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
