The mechanical response of vinculin. [PDF]
Vinculin is a mechanosensitive adaptor that links actin to cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesions. Known as a mechanoeffector, it is recruited to adhesion sites under force via mechanotransducers talin and α-catenin. Here, we examine vinculin’s mechanical properties to assess its role as a mechanotransducer.

The mechanical response of talin [PDF]
AbstractTalin, a force-bearing cytoplasmic adapter essential for integrin-mediated cell adhesion, links the actin cytoskeleton to integrin-based cell–extracellular matrix adhesions at the plasma membrane. Its C-terminal rod domain, which contains 13 helical bundles, plays important roles in mechanosensing during cell adhesion and spreading.

Imperfect Best-Response Mechanisms [PDF]
Best-response mechanisms (Nisan, Schapira, Valiant, Zohar, 2011) provide a unifying framework for studying various distributed protocols in which the participants are instructed to repeatedly best respond to each others' strategies. Two fundamental features of these mechanisms are convergence and incentive compatibility.

Molecular Mechanisms for the Mechanical Modulation of Airway Responsiveness [PDF]
The smooth muscle of the airways is exposed to continuously changing mechanical forces during normal breathing. The mechanical oscillations that occur during breathing have profound effects on airway tone and airway responsiveness both in experimental animals and humans in vivo and in isolated airway tissues in vitro.

Research on mechanical response of buried steel pipelines under continuous collapse
Formation collapse is one of the common geological hazards for the buried long-distance pipelines. In order to study the mechanical response law of the buried steel pipelines under continuous collapse, experiments and numerical simulations of buried ...
