Journal of Plant Physiology, 1988Abstract Germination of Halimium halimifolium seeds was very low during the experimental period. The scarification treatment enhanced the germination significantly at all the three temperatures tested, indicating that H. halimifolium seeds are endowed with complex dormancy mechanisms.

The germination capacity of Quercus pyrenaica seeds subjected to different temperatures (60°C, 100°C and 150°C for 1 and 5 minutes) and mechanical scarification was studied. Germination increased after mechanical scarification and heat treatment at 60°C for 1 minute.
