Measurement of the Hissing-Type Noise and Vibration of the Automotive HVAC System

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Noises such as hissing, humming, air-rush and compressor engagement are the common type of noises that can be induced from the automotive heating and ventilating air conditional (HVAC) system.

Mechanics of fretting fatigue tests

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1987
A popular fretting fatigue test, in which oscillating tension is applied in phase with the fretting force, is analyzed. The configuration is a generalization of the well-known Mindlin contact problem, and it is shown that the addition of bulk tension has a substantial effect on the stick- slip geometry and the shear traction at the interface.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Mechanical Testing for Stretchable Electronics

open access: yes, 2016
Stretchable electronics have been a subject of increased research over the past decade [1–3]. Although stretchable electronic devices are a relatively new area for the semiconductor/electronics industries, recent market research indicates the market ...

Non-Contact Measurement of Small-Module Gears Using Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Due to the small size and harsh transmission conditions of small-module gears, it is very difficult to measure gear characteristics with a modulus smaller than 1 mm.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
