Analysis of cochlear mechanics

Hearing Research, 1986
A large number of experimental results on basilar-membrane vibration, cochlear microphonics, hair-cell receptor potentials, and spike rates in auditory nerve afferents are brought together to arrive at a comprehensive concept of cochlear mechanics, including hair-cell stimulation.

Mechanical program analysis

Communications of the ACM, 1975
One means of analyzing program performance is by deriving closed-form expressions for their execution behavior. This paper discusses the mechanization of such analysis, and describes a system, Metric, which is able to analyze simple Lisp programs and produce, for example, closed-form expressions for their running time expressed in terms of size of ...

Mechanical analysis of maxillofacial miniplates

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1995
The effect of compression and tensile forces on different types of maxillofacial miniplates was measured, in both as supplied and after bending states. Tests showed all plates showed values of tensile force at failure in excess of that found in most clinical situations; twisting through 90 degrees about the long axis had little effect.

An analysis of mechanical cardiac assistance

Journal of Biomechanics, 1973
Abstract The effect of three methods of cardiac assistance on mean systolic pressure, mean diastolic pressure, and aortic end-diastolic pressure were analyzed theoretically in a mathematical model of the arterial system. The results indicate that: (i) The intra-aortic balloon performs better when it is large and when deflation begins before the onset

ANALYSIS OF GENETIC REGULATORY MECHANISMS

Annual Review of Genetics, 1974
Studies on the control of gene expression in bacteria have provided a number of models for how regulation might occur in higher organisms. These models have been applied to explain, among other things, various developmental processes, certain genetic diseases, and mechanisms of viral development and transformation.

Genetic analysis of mechanisms of aging

Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 1996
A wide range of genetic models with postponed aging are now available, from selected mice and Drosophilia to mutant Caenorhabditis elegans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These systems allow efficient testing of alternative mechanistic hypotheses for aging.

A nonlinear analysis of the mechanics of accommodation

Vision Research, 1970
Abstract Continuous measurements of the motion of the cat lens in response to ciliary ganglion stimulation have been made for step and sinusoidal changes in stimulation rate. The lens responses of five cats are averaged to arrive at representative, continuous recordings relating lens motion and stimulation rate.

The analysis of coexistence mechanisms of Bluetooth

Vehicular Technology Conference. IEEE 55th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Spring 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37367), 2003
Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11b WLAN and microwave ovens are likely to be the dominant interferers to Bluetooth in the coming year. There is both frequency dynamic and frequency static interference. This paper provides a theoretical analysis on the Bluetooth noncollaborative coexistence mechanisms.

Kinematical analysis of Wunderlich mechanism

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2013
Abstract We analyze the configuration space of Wunderlich mechanism using tools of computational algebraic geometry. We provide the complete description of the configuration space of the Wunderlich mechanism by computing the prime decomposition of the relevant variety and analyzing all of its prime components. We analyze also the effect of the choice

On the Kinematic Analysis of Robotic Mechanisms

The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1999
The kinematic analyses, of manipulators and other robotic devices composed of mechanical links, usually depend on the solution of sets of nonlinear equations. There are a variety of both numerical and algebraic techniques available to solve such systems of equations and to give bounds on the number of solutions.
