NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Inference in Nonlinear Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Parameter inference in mechanistic models of coupled differential equations is a challenging problem. We propose a new method using kernel ridge regression in Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces (RKHS). A three-step gradient matching algorithm is developed

Germline TP53 Mutations Causing Diamond–Blackfan Anemia: A French Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diamond–Blackfan anemia is a rare congenital erythroblastopenia typically caused by mutations in ribosomal protein genes. Recently, gain‐of‐function mutations in TP53 have been identified as a novel cause of Diamond–Blackfan anemia. We report two French patients who both harbored a heterozygous TP53 deletion (NM_000546.5: c.1077delA; p ...

Evaluating Artificial Models of Cognition

open access: yesStudies in Logic, Grammar and Rhetoric, 2015
Artificial models of cognition serve different purposes, and their use determines the way they should be evaluated. There are also models that do not represent any particular biological agents, and there is controversy as to how they should be assessed ...

Mechanistic Models

open access: yes, 1991
Several models and theories are reviewed that incorporate the idea of radiation-induced lesions (repairable and/or irreparable) that can be related to molecular lesions in the DNA molecule. Usually the DNA double-strand or chromatin break is suggested as the critical lesion.

Two Faces of NOTCH1 in Childhood Lymphoblastic T‐Cell Neoplasia: Prognostic Divergence of Mutational and Structural Aberrations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In pediatric patients, T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) survival exceeds 80%. Relapse remains associated with limited curative options. Frontline treatment is largely extrapolated from T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) treatment, reflecting the ongoing debate, whether both entities represent distinct diseases or variants within ...

Clinical and Biological Features of Response in Resistant Neuroblastoma to 131I‐Metaiodobenzylguanidine Radiotherapy in the Anti‐GD2 Immunotherapy Era

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.

The functional response of metamorphosis rates to climatic variation: A case study with Amblyomma variegatum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Amblyomma variegatum is a three host hard tick that has demonstrated extensive range expansion over the last 150 years. This _Tropical Bont Tick_ vectors a number of economically important bacterial diseases of ruminants including the pathogen Ehrlichia ...
