Mechanochemical treatment of hexachlorobenzene-contaminated soil with additives

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2023
The use of mechanochemistry for the remediation of hexachlorobenzene (HCB)-contaminated soil was investigated. Additives such as alkaline materials, neutral materials, natural minerals, and solid waste were studied to explore their effect on the degradation of hexachlorobenzene in soil with single or combined addition by mechanochemical method.

Mechanochemical Treatment of Kaolinite

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2001
Kaolinite surfaces were modified by mechanochemical treatment for periods of time up to 10 h. X-ray diffraction shows a steady decrease in intensity of the d(001) spacing with mechanochemical treatment, resulting in the delamination of the kaolinite and a subsequent decrease in crystallite size with grinding time.

Degradation of polychlorinated naphthalene by mechanochemical treatment

Chemosphere, 2013
Polychlorinated naphthalene (PCN) is a hazardous compound that is listed as a new persistent organic pollutants candidate by the United Nations Environment Program. The production, import and use of PCNs are prohibited by the Chemical Substances Control Law in Japan. PCN was milled with calcium oxide as an additive to investigate the feasibility of its

Dioxins degradation and reformation during mechanochemical treatment

Chemosphere, 2017
Mechanochemical dechlorination and destruction of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and -furans (PCDD/F) on fly ash from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration was tested with and without additives (CaO and CaO/aluminium powder). The first results disappointed because of obvious PCDD/F-reformation and a second test series was conducted after removing ...

Mechanochemical treatment to recycling asbestos-containing waste

Waste Management, 2003
Numerous industrial and experimental facilities have been set up, particularly in the last ten years, as a result of studies and researches on treating asbestos-containing waste (ACW) to stabilise it and to enable its reuse. Some of the stabilisation processes reduce the hazards of ACW by imprisoning in a cement or resonoid matrix.

Thermal treatment of mechanochemically activated kaolinite

Thermochimica Acta, 2003
The mechanochemical activation of a high defect kaolinite has been studied using a combination of high-resolution thermogravimetry and DRIFT spectroscopy. The effect of grinding causes a decrease in the dehydroxylation temperature and an increase in the amount of adsorbed/coordinated water.

Synthesis of hydroxyapatite via mechanochemical treatment

Biomaterials, 2002
Hydroxyapatite powder was synthesized with calcium pyrophosphate (Ca2P2O7) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) through solid-state reaction. The two powders were mixed in acetone and water, respectively, and the single phase of hydroxyapatite was observed to occur only in the powder milled in water, without the additional supply of water vapor during heat ...
