Deacetylation of konjac glucomannan by mechanochemical treatment

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2008
AbstractThis article presents the experimental results on deacetylation of a konjac glucomannan (KGM) powder with alkali in mechanochemical (MC) treatment by a dry vibrating mill. It is indicated that the acetyl group of the KGM powder could be removed by means of the MC method.

Modification of Kaolinite Surfaces by Mechanochemical Treatment

Langmuir, 2001
Kaolinite surfaces were modified by grinding kaolinite/quartz mixtures with mole fractions of 0.25 kaolinite and 0.75 quartz for periods of time up to 4 h. X-ray diffraction shows the loss of intensity of the d(001) spacing with mechanical treatment resulting in the delamination of the kaolinite. Thermogravimetric analyses show the kaolinite surface is

Co and Co2 hydrogenation under mechanochemical treatment

Catalysis Today, 1997
Abstract The effect of mechanochemical treatment on the hydrogenation of CO and CO2 was studied using a flow milling vial as a catalytic reactor. Traditional catalysts for the methane formation (Ni, Zr, Zr-Ni-containing samples, Zr hydride and Zr-Ni hydrides of various genesis), as well as inactive NiO and ZrO2, were examined.

Elucidation of Degradation Mechanism of Dioxins during Mechanochemical Treatment

Environmental Science & Technology, 2005
Model dioxin compounds 4-chlorobiphenyl (4CB), octa-chlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (OCDD), and octachlorodibenzofuran (OCDF) were degraded by a mechanochemical (MC) process that involved milling with calcium oxide by use of a planetary ball mill. The degradation of 4CB produced mainly chloride ions and biphenyl, with the chlorine removal efficiency reaching ...

Enzymatic treatment of mechanochemical modified natural bamboo fibers

Fibers and Polymers, 2012
Natural bamboo fibers have attracted growing demands in textile industry due to benefit from their excellent properties and renewable and abundant resource; however, there are still limitations for their application in textile industry because of their poor quality. For this reason, enzymes treatments on mechanochemically modified natural bamboo fibers

Characterization of nanostructured TiO2 prepared by mechanochemical treatment

2004
The high-energy ball-milling of TiO2 induces changes in the crystal structure and decreases particle sizes to nano dimensions. In this work the conditions of changing TiO2 microstructure during the mechanochemical process were studied. The milling of TiO2 was performed in air using the Fritsch Pulverisette 6 planetary ball mill with vial and balls made

Mechanochemical treatment of high silica bauxite with lime

Minerals Engineering, 2002
The mechanochemical processing of bauxite with lime has been investigated. The milling of bauxite and lime mixtures in an attritor mill resulted in the formation of an iron rich hydrogarnet phase in bauxite/lime slurries containing greater than 9% CaO.

Cobalt Ferrite Nanoparticles Prepared by Coprecipitation/Mechanochemical Treatment

Chemistry Letters, 2004
Abstract Cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) nanoparticles have been prepared by chemical coprecipitation, mechanical milling and subsequent thermal treatment. Sodium chloride was added as a diluent during mechanical milling to avoid agglomeration of the particles.

Structural changes in silver iodide upon mechanochemical treatment

Glass Physics and Chemistry, 2012
Finely dispersed powder of AgI has been investigated using the mechanochemical method. The crystal size was determined by scanning electron microscopy, and the crystal element composition was estimated using X-ray microanalysis. The diameter of powder particles was 500–1000 nm. Their surface is characterized by an expressed faceting attributable to the

Effects of Mechanochemical Treatment on Yttrium Oxyapatite Formation

Journal of Materials Synthesis and Processing, 2001
Structural changes of Y2O3-SiO2 solid system during a fine milling in air were investigated. The milling of a mixture in a molar ratio Y2O3/SiO2 = 7/9 affect the structure of the solids. After heating the samples at T > 1000°C new phases were obtained by a thermal reaction between Y2O3 and SiO2, as a result of the mechanochemical activation. The extent
