High-strength non-firing ceramics by mechanochemical treatment
Abstract Reducing the sintering time/temperature has been long desired. A so-called “non-firing sintering” was previously introduced by authors, without using thermal energy. This method involves the chemical activation of powder surface via ball milling, however, the mechanical strength of solidified bodies by non-firing sintering method is still ...

A self‐healing and electrically conductive liquid metal elastomer enables robust self‐soldering of surface mount devices for soft electronics. Photothermally activated conductive pathways, strong pressure‐sensitive adhesion, and stable package‐integrated contacts provide high conductivity and extreme stretchability.

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Largely Amorphous Silver‐Doped Calcium Phosphate Particles
Planetary ball milling of β‐tricalcium phosphate (β‐TCP) powders in acetone using 1 mm zirconia beads as milling media has been shown to produce largely amorphous, anhydrous calcium phosphate powders.

Realistic Models of Biological Motion
The origin of biological motion can be traced back to the function of molecular motor proteins. Cytoplasmic dynein and kinesin transport organelles within our cells moving along a polymeric filament, the microtubule.

Prolonged exposure to stiff extracellular matrix drives cancer‐associated fibroblasts into a persistently activated myofibroblast state. Two parallel pathways are identified: β1 integrin activation smoothens the nuclear lamina to reduce lamin–chromatin contacts, while the formin mDia2 regulates nuclear actin to alter chromatin organization.

High-Temperature SHS Heat Insulators Based on Pre-Activated Mineral Raw Materials
In this paper, the results of the technological combustion of SHS heat insulators based on mineral origins are presented. It is shown that after mechanochemical treatment of minerals—diatomite—the kinetic characteristics of the combustion process change,

Co-grinding significance for calcium carbonate–calcium phosphate mixed cement. Part I: effect of particle size and mixing on solid phase reactivity [PDF]
In part I of this study we aim to evaluate and control the characteristics of the powders constituting the solid phase of a vaterite CaCO3–dicalcium phosphate dihydrate cement using a co-grinding process and to determine their impact on cement setting ...

We developed the enzyme‐responsive peptide SAp‐CD28 to selectively target CD28‐overexpressing T‐ALL cells. Following phosphatase‐mediated activation, SAp‐CD28 undergoes conformational switching and nanooligomerization, resulting in the disruption of CD28 downstream signaling.

Mechanically Activated Luminescence in Polyurethanes Incorporating Calixarene Mechanophores
The conformational flexibility of a calix[4]arene is exploited to obtain a reversible mechanoluminophore featuring a pyrene excimer couple at the upper rim. Stretching a linear polyurethane incorporating such mechanophore results in luminescence color change from yellow–green to blue, consistent with a force‐induced conformational motion of the ...
