Polarity- and Pressure-Induced Emission from a Benzophenone-Based Luminophore
Since strong polarity usually causes emission quenching, materials with polarity-induced emission (PIE) are rarely reported despite their important applications in polar environments. Herein, an N-phenylcarbazole-substituted benzophenone derivative (BP-3-

Approaches to polymeric mechanochromic materials [PDF]
ABSTRACTMechanochromic materials respond to mechanical stimuli with a change of their optical properties. Such materials are of interest for many technological applications and support fundamental research as they help improving the understanding of stress transfer in polymeric objects and aid in the identification of the processes that lead to ...

Force-Dependent Multicolor Mechanochromism from a Single Mechanophore [PDF]
We report a bis-naphthopyran mechanophore that exhibits force-dependent changes in visible absorption. A series of polymers incorporating a chain-centered bis-naphthopyran mechanophore was synthesized and mechanically activated using ultrasonication.

Visualizing and Quantifying Impact with Mechanochromic Sensing Paints Based on Self-Assembled Polydiacetylene-Silk Core-Shell Vesicles. [PDF]
Tracking physical impacts is important in many fields. Self‐assembled microparticles made from polydiacetylene and silk fibroin that change color from blue to red when hit can provide an alternative approach to traditional mechanical transducers, quantitatively visualizing impact with responses ranging from <100 to 770 N.

Multicolor Mechanochromism of a Polymer/Silica Composite with Dual Distinct Mechanophores [PDF]
The development of a multicolor mechanochromic polymer/silica composite is achieved by using two distinct types of mechanochromophores. The multicolor mechanochromism of the composite containing diarylbibenzofuranone in silica-rich domains and ...

Deep Learning Enables Identification of Antimicrobial Peptides Through Mechanochromic Fingerprints
We demonstrate a new platform for antimicrobial peptide identification by combining polydiacetylene, hyperspectral imaging, and deep learning. The trained model classifies distinct spectral fingerprints into 14 peptide classes with 96.79% accuracy, revealing previously hidden molecular information beyond conventional colorimetric sensing.
