Mechanofluorochromism (MFC) of Donor–π–Acceptor (D–π–A)‐Type Fluorescent Dyes
Mechanofluorochromism (MFC) is a photophysical phenomenon that induces changes in fluorescent colors as well as colors of organic fluorescent dyes in the solid‐state by external mechanical stimuli. In this Personal Account, we offer an insight into the mechanism for the expression of MFC and present a direction in the molecular design toward creating D–

Atomically precise metal nanoclusters are ultrasmall aggregates of metal atoms with finely tunable structures. They exhibit broad PL across visible to NIR wavelengths by tuning size, structure, and composition. The review addresses fundamental emission mechanisms and structure–property correlations, evaluating enhancement strategies (ligand ...

Sticky Multicolor Mechanochromic Labels
Sticky-colored labels are an efficient way to communicate visual information. However, most labels are static. Here, we propose a new category of dynamic sticky labels that change structural colors when stretched. The sticky mechanochromic labels can be pasted on flexible surfaces such as fabric and rubber or even on brittle materials. To enhance their

Revolving chiral patterns are induced by an ultraviolet light beam in frustrated films of photoactive chiral nematics. The uniformity and regularity of the rotation depend on the ratio of the pattern size to the diameter of the light spot. The rotation is interrupted when this ratio reaches about eight.

Mechanochromism in Structurally Colored Polymeric Materials
AbstractMechanochromic effects in structurally colored materials are the result of deformation‐induced changes to their ordered nanostructures. Polymeric materials which respond in this way to deformation offer an attractive combination of characteristics, including continuous strain sensing, high strain resolution, and a wide strain‐sensing range ...

Vapour-Induced Liquid Crystallinity and Self-Recovery Mechanochromism of Helical Block Copolymer
New molecular design of conjugated polymer that possess high sensitivity to vapour and self-recovering property against pressure is proposed. We synthesised a rod-rod diblock copolymer, poly(3-((3S)-3,7-dimethyl-octyl)-thiophene)-block-poly(4-octyl ...
