Inverted Meckel's diverticulum

Surgery, 2003
A HEALTHY 35-YEAR-OLD PATIENT was admitted with a sudden onset of bloody diarrhea. The patient had no past record of any significant illness. Colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopic examination did not reveal the cause of bleeding. During admission, the patient passed a large amount of grossly bloody and tarry stool.

Giant meckel's diverticulum

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1992
A case of incomplete intestinal obstruction caused by a giant Meckel's diverticulum in a 13-year-old girl is reported. Short resection of the ileum with the diverticulum and end-to-end anastomosis was carried out. The possibilities of diagnosis and treatment as well as the controversial classification of this rare congenital anomaly are discussed.

Giant Meckel's Diverticulum

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1965
REGARDLESS of its size, Meckel's diverticulum may escape detection for long periods of time. It must be considered in every case of gastrointestinal dysfunction of an obscure nature. The diverticulum described in this case report is of interest because of its unusually large diameter and unusual position, as well as its prolonged symptomatic history ...

Meckel's Diverticulum

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1972
An occasional out-pouching of the small intestine is universally referred to as a Meckel's diverticulum, after Johann Friedrich Meckel (1781-1833), sometimes called Meckel "the younger." However, the diverticulum was not first described by that distinguished Prussian anatomist.

Perforated Meckel's diverticulum

Surgery, 2001
A 72-year-old woman had abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. An appendectomy had been performed 50 years earlier. Physical examination was notable only for periumbilical pain and abdominal rigidity. No abdominal mass or vascular sounds were noted. The white blood cell count was 21,000. Liver function studies and urinalysis were normal.

Inverted Meckel's diverticulum

Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, 1989
Although Meckel's diverticulum is a relatively common anomaly, inverted Meckel's diverticulum has been reported rarely. We describe a 59-year-old woman with inverted Meckel's diverticulum located at the distal ileum simulating a benign tumor. Computed tomography showed a small mass with a central area of low fat density, and appearance not described ...

Meckel's diverticulum

Summary A case is presented of Meckel's diverticulum causing symptoms of three years' duration before severity of the clinical course led to laparotomy and diagnosis. Meckel's diverticulitis occurs often enough to be considered in the differential diagnosis of the patient with abdominal symptomatology.

Meckel's Diverticulum

New England Journal of Medicine, 1959
IN 1812 Meckel described the congenital diverticulum of the small intestine that now bears his name. Although this lesion has been discovered in 1 or 2 per cent of various autopsy series, notoriously the roentgenographic demonstration of Meckel's diverticulum is not frequently accomplished.1 2 3 4 Up to 1958 no more than 30 or 40 cases so diagnosed had
