ELECTROMAGNETIC MEDIA WITH NO DISPERSION EQUATION [PDF]

open access: yesProgress In Electromagnetics Research B, 2013
It has been known through some examples that parameters of an electromagnetic medium can be so defined that there is no dispersion equation (Fresnel equation) to restrict the choice of the wave vector of a plane wave in such a medium, i.e., that the dispersion equation is satisfied identically for any wave vector.

Disentangling Two Fundamental Paradigms in Human-Machine Communication Research: Media Equation and Media Evocation

open access: yesHuman-Machine Communication Journal, 2023
In this theoretical paper, we delineate two fundamental paradigms in how scholars conceptualize the nature of machines in human-machine communication (HMC).

Restrictions on wave equations for passive media [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
Most derivations of acoustic wave equations involve ensuring that causality is satisfied. Here, the consequences of also requiring that the medium should be passive are explored. This is a stricter criterion than causality for a linear system and implies that there are restrictions on the relaxation modulus and its first few derivatives.

A VTI anisotropic media inversion method based on the exact reflection coefficient equation

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Anisotropy is widespread in the Earth’s crust, and VTI (vertical axis symmetry transverse isotropy) anisotropy is common due to stratigraphic pressure. Disregarding anisotropy leads to inaccurate inversion results in VTI media.

Semiclassical Approach to the Nonlocal Kinetic Model of Metal Vapor Active Media

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
A semiclassical approach based on the WKB–Maslov method is developed for the kinetic ionization equation in dense plasma with approximations characteristic of metal vapor active media excited by a contracted discharge.

Nonlinear Poisson Equation for Heterogeneous Media [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2012
The Poisson equation is a widely accepted model for electrostatic analysis. However, the Poisson equation is derived based on electric polarizations in a linear, isotropic, and homogeneous dielectric medium. This article introduces a nonlinear Poisson equation to take into consideration of hyperpolarization effects due to intensive charges and possible

A discrete scheme of the fluid motion equation based on the pore-scale SPH method

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
To study the phenomenon of convection diffusion and solute migration in porous media, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method is used to solve the N–S equation describing pore water flow and the linear homogeneous second-order differential equation ...

Modified pure-viscoacoustic wave propagation and compensated reverse-time migration in transversely isotropic media

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Previous studies demonstrated that seismic attenuation and anisotropy can significantly affect the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of wavefields.

A PRIORI ESTIMATE FOR AN EQUATION WITH FRACTIONAL DERIVATIVES WITH DIFFERENT ORIGINS [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2019
We consider an ordinary differential equation of fractional order with the composition of leftand right-sided fractional derivatives, and with variable potential. The considered equation is a model equation of motion in fractal media.
