Thermo-elasticity for anisotropic media in higher dimensions

open access: yes, 2011
In this note we develop tools to study the Cauchy problem for the system of thermo-elasticity in higher dimensions. The theory is developed for general homogeneous anisotropic media under non-degeneracy conditions.

Casimir effect from macroscopic quantum electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The canonical quantization of macroscopic electromagnetism was recently presented in New J. Phys. 12 (2010) 123008. This theory is here used to derive the Casimir effect, by considering the special case of thermal and zero-point fields. The stress-energy-

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Jump cut tehnika filmske montaže Žan-Lika Godara i file cards kompozicioni metod Džona Zorna: analogije i implikacije / Jean-Luc Godard’s Jump Cut and John Zorn’s File Cards Methods: Analogies and Implications

open access: yesAM: Art + Media, 2014
It seems not only possible, but even comfortable to compare the following models of artistic creation: Jean-Luc Godard’s Jump cut film cut and editing and John Zorn’s File cards montage of musical blocks.

Effective medium approach for heterogeneous reaction-diffusion media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An effective medium theory that can be used to calculate effective diffusion and reaction rate coefficients in random heterogeneous reaction-diffusion systems is described.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Uživanje u pogledu / Pleasure in the Gaze

open access: yesAM: Art + Media, 2013
This work examines a system of signals whose perception is founded upon the sense of sight. Different analyses in regard to seeing, the theory of the view, and reflection are investigated through the works of Ernest Gombrich, Nelson Goodman, Martin Jay ...

Replica field theory for a polymer in random media

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper we revisit the problem of a (non self-avoiding) polymer chain in a random medium which was previously investigated by Edwards and Muthukumar (EM).

Elite athletes or superstars? Media representation of para-athletes at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This article offers a discourse analysis of media representations of para athletes before, during and post the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in print and online sources, drawing on the lens of critical disability theory.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
