Cosine-Pruned Medial Axis: A new method for isometric equivariant and noise-free medial axis extraction [PDF]
We present the CPMA, a new method for medial axis pruning with noise robustness and equivariance to isometric transformations. Our method leverages the discrete cosine transform to create smooth versions of a shape $\Omega$. We use the smooth shapes to compute a score function $\scorefunction$ that filters out spurious branches from the medial axis. We

Corticothalamic modulation of somatosensory thalamic tactile processing
Abstract figure legend To examine how Layer 6 drug application affects ventral‐posterior‐medial (VPm) responses, we recorded local field potentials and single‐unit activity from barrels adjacent to the drug application site during spontaneous and tactile stimulation.

Rabies virus-based labeling of layer 6 corticothalamic neurons for two-photon imaging in vivo
Summary: Neocortical layer 6 (L6) is less understood than other more superficial layers, largely owing to limitations of performing high-resolution investigations in vivo.

The tangent cone, the dimension and the frontier of a medial axis [PDF]
This paper aims to establish a relation between the tangent cone of the medial axis of X at a given point a of R^n$ and the medial axis of the set of points in X realising the distance d(a,X). As a consequence, a lower bound for the dimension of the medial axis of X in terms of the dimension of the medial axis of m(a) is obtained.

Bottom-up retinotopic organization supports top-down mental imagery [PDF]
Finding a path between locations is a routine task in daily life. Mental navigation is often used to plan a route to a destination that is not visible from the current location. We first used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and surface-based

Corticofugal modulation of peripheral auditory responses
The auditory efferent system originates in the auditory cortex and projects to the medial geniculate body, inferior colliculus, cochlear nucleus and superior olivary complex reaching the cochlea through olivocochlear fibers.

Task-induced modulations of neuronal activity along the auditory pathway
Summary: Sensory processing varies depending on behavioral context. Here, we ask how task engagement modulates neurons in the auditory system. We train mice in a simple tone-detection task and compare their neuronal activity during passive hearing and ...
