3D THINNING AND ITS APPLICATIONS TO MEDICAL IMAGE PROCESSING

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 1999
Skeleton is a frequently used feature to represent general form of an object. The importance of that region-based shape feature shows an upward tendency in medical image processing, too.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Laser-generated Ion Beams for Medical Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The advent of high-power laser systems paved the way for laser acceleration of ion beams. Based on theoretical simulations, we demonstrate the feasibility of laser-generated ion beams matching the strict requirements for radio-oncological applications.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Topological generalization of minimal structure with medical application

open access: yesFilomat
In this paper we used the MSA? space, ??open sets and ??-open sets to introduce a new approximation of uncertain sets as a mathematical tool to modify the approximations. Moreover, several important measures such accuracy measure and quality of approximation would be studied. We compared the previous methods with the current one we obtained.
