Classification of Skin Lesion With Features Extraction Using Quantum Chebyshev Polynomials and Autoencoder From Wavelet-Transformed Images

open access: yesIEEE Access
Skin, a vital organ acting as a protective barrier to the external environment, plays a pivotal role in overall human health. Early detection of skin diseases is essential, as untreated conditions can escalate to serious issues such as skin cancer.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Pattern recognition in medical images using neural networks

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2001
The proposal of this research line is the search for alternatives to the resolution of complex problems where human knowledge should be apprehended in a general fashion.

Efficient Deep Retinal Fundus Image-Based Network for Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis Using Mobile Device Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access
The existing diagnostic methods for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) require considerable time and expense from patients, and approaches employing machine learning have also failed to address these issues.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Image compression for medical diagnosis using neural networks

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2000
Images compression is a widely studied topic. Conventional situations offer variable compression ratios depending on the image in question and, in general, do not yield good results for images that are rich in tones. This work is an application of images

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Astrocyte heterogeneity in brain metastases

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Astrocytes emerge as pivotal regulators of metastatic colonization, survival, immune remodeling, and therapy response associated with an increasing heterogeneity that requires spatially and longitudinally resolved approaches to uncover regulatory programs and guide context‐specific therapies.

From tumor‐centric to ecosystem‐based hypotheses in brain tumor research and care

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Primary brain tumors, whether in adults or children, present a major challenge because of their dramatic prognosis and the ongoing lack of efficient therapeutic approaches. In recent years, a shift has occurred from tumor‐centric concepts to a more holistic view of these tumors as dynamic ecosystems.
