Adipocyte‐specific NIK depletion enhances energy metabolism and glucose tolerance in mice

Obesity is associated with reduced energy expenditure and increased hepatic lipid accumulation. This study reveals that loss of NIK in adipocytes stimulates FGF21‐driven expression of thermogenic genes, including UCP1, and mitochondrial uncoupled respiration.

Mapping of C5‐Blocking Monoclonal Antibodies Reveals New C5 Inhibitory Epitopes and Novel Modes of C5 Inhibition

Immunology, EarlyView.
We identify four distinct C5 inhibitory epitopes, including two novel antibodies that selectively block membrane attack complex (MAC) assembly while preserving C5 cleavage and C5a generation. These findings establish selective MAC inhibition as a new therapeutic strategy for complement‐mediated diseases.

Nail Clubbing‐Associated With a Large Segmental Infantile Hemangioma of the Arm in a Patient With PHACES Syndrome

ABSTRACT Although infantile hemangiomas (IH) are common vascular tumors of childhood, associated nail abnormalities are rare. We report a child with a large segmental IH of the upper limb with marked, ipsilateral nail clubbing, which gradually improved until the age of 7 years.
