Evaluating the Efficacy of Cytokine‐Directed Therapies in the Management of VEXAS Syndrome

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of cytokine‐directed therapies in VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X‐linked, autoinflammatory somatic) syndrome using previously proposed treatment response criteria. Methods All patients with genetically confirmed VEXAS syndrome who received targeted therapies with JAK inhibitors (JAKi), tumor necrosis factor α inhibitors

Quality of Life in Adults With Metastatic Breast Cancer: The Impact of Between‐ and Within‐Person Changes in Symptoms and Positive Affect

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
Individuals living with metastatic breast cancer experienced substantial within‐person and between‐person variations in symptom severity and positive affect, which affected their quality of life. These data highlight the need for adaptive, targeted intervention strategies to optimize quality of life for all patients.

Cavitary Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma in a Young Adult With a History of Treated Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cavitary lung lesions are commonly attributed to infection; however, malignancy should remain a diagnostic consideration. We report a 30‐year‐old non‐smoking man with a history of treated Hodgkin lymphoma who presented with a cavitary pulmonary adenocarcinoma. This case highlights the importance of considering rare malignant causes.

A Novel Homozygous Frameshift Variant in ZNF699 Associated With DEGCAGS Syndrome With Severe Transfusion‐Dependent Anemia in an Indian Child: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT In children with unexplained multisystem involvement—global developmental delay, dysmorphism, skeletal anomalies, and severe transfusion‐dependent anemia—especially from consanguineous families, whole‐exome sequencing should be pursued early to enable timely diagnosis, proactive iron chelation, and genetic counseling.

Hypertriglyceridemic Acute Pancreatitis With Concomitant Retrocecal Appendicitis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypertriglyceridemia‐induced acute pancreatitis and acute appendicitis are distinct clinical conditions rarely reported to occur concurrently. We present a case of hypertriglyceridemia‐induced pancreatitis characterized by clinical deterioration despite a decline in serum triglyceride levels.

Unusual Hemodynamic Presentation of Pediatric Kikuchi‐Fujimoto Disease: Persistent Sinus Bradycardia and Vasopressor‐Dependent Hypotension

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Kikuchi‐Fujimoto disease rarely presents with vasopressor‐dependent hypotension requiring pediatric intensive care despite preserved cardiac function. This case highlights the importance of early excisional lymph node biopsy for timely diagnosis and appropriate management of children with unexplained hemodynamic instability and necrotizing ...

Anti‐U1‐RNP‐Positive Inflammatory Myopathy Presenting With Dysphagia: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐titer anti‐U1‐RNP antibodies may present with myopathy without fulfilling MCTD criteria. We report a 38‐year‐old woman with proximal weakness, elevated muscle enzymes, anti‐U1‐RNP positivity, and inflammatory myopathy on EMG/MRI, but lacking classic overlap features.

Magnetic resonance imaging‐based meniscal coverage and cartilage thickness are associated with mechanical axis alignment in knee osteoarthritis

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 13, Issue 4, October 2026.
Abstract Purpose This study examined whether magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based meniscal and cartilage measurements explain the percentage of mechanical axis (%MA) to a degree comparable with the joint line convergence angle (JLCA) when added to the arithmetic hip–knee–ankle (aHKA) angle.
