Ecologic Traits Analysis for Identifying Rodent Hosts for Arenavirus and Hepacivirus in the Americas

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
Over half of emerging human pathogens originate from wildlife, with rodents serving as key zoonotic hosts. This study used ecological trait‐based models to identify rodent traits associated with arenavirus and hepacivirus infections and detect potential host species across the Americas, our models achieve high predictive accuracy (AUC = 0.92–0.96).

Escribir en comunidad: Construcción de relaciones y responsabilidad en la producción de conocimiento

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 127, Issue 3, Page 447-465, September 2025.
ABSTRACT As anthropology reckons with its past, present, and future, anthropologists increasingly seek to challenge inequities within the discipline and academia more broadly. Anthropology, regardless of subdiscipline, is a social endeavor. Yet research often remains an isolating (though not necessarily solitary) process, even within research teams and

B Cells as a Host of Persistent Salmonella Typhimurium

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 175, Issue 3, Page 292-299, July 2025.
B cells: a niche for persistent Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Tm). In vitro, within B cells and in the absence of antibiotics, a persistent population of S. Tm emerges, where the SehA/B gene is implicated. Additionally, a replicative population of S. Tm is also present. Upon antibiotic administration, approximately 90% of the S.

Inhibition of Steroidogenesis in Prostate Cancer Cells by Both a Natural and Another Synthetic Steroid

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 86, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Studies suggest that vegetarians and Asians have lower mortality rates from prostate cancer compared to men who follow a Western diet. β‐sitosterol, a key compound of plant‐based diets, has been found to induce significant changes in the ultrasonic structure of the prostatic adenomas, making it a promising candidate for further prostate cancer
