Grass species and climatic season impact on Rhipicephalus microplus temporal abundance in a tropical region

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The interaction between grass species and climatic season shapes the population dynamics of the cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus. This information highlights the potential of forage species to influence off‐host tick dynamics. Additionally, minimum temperature and minimum relative humidity were the most influential microclimatic predictors of ...

RNA‐DNA Fusomer Fibers With Customizable Physicochemical, Mechanical, and Biological Properties for Next‐Generation Therapeutics

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We introduce RNA‐DNA fusomers, a new class of chemically synthesized oligonucleotides that combine the versatile properties of RNA and DNA within a single sequence and self‐assemble into higher‐order functional structures via a simple one‐pot annealing reaction.

Presence of Nationally Banned Carbamates and Organophosphate Pesticides in Wild Carnivores, Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As top predators, terrestrial carnivores face great risk of pesticide exposure and serve as sentinels of environmental contamination. Additionally, terrestrial carnivores are frequently threatened by intentional or secondary poisoning with highly toxic compounds, such as carbamates and organophosphates.

Ophthalmic artery Doppler as potential surrogate marker of angiogenic imbalance in near‐term pregnancy

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives First, to evaluate whether the ratio of soluble fms‐like tyrosine kinase‐1 to placental growth factor (sFlt‐1/PlGF) is associated with hemodynamic changes in ophthalmic artery (OA) Doppler in near‐term pregnancy. Second, to assess the performance of OA Doppler to rule in and rule out angiogenic factor imbalance.

First Non‐Invasive Monitoring of Fecal Steroids in Greater Caribbean Manatees (Trichechus manatus manatus)

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
This study established the first fecal hormonal reference values (P4/E2) for the Greater Caribbean manatee. Using non‐invasive ELISA, the authors found no significant differences between mature and immature females, highlighting that long‐term monitoring and ultrasounds are essential to fully understand their complex reproductive cycles.
