Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

Galectin-1 is essential for efficient liver regeneration following hepatectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Galectin-1 (Gal1) is a known immune/inflammatory regulator which actsboth extracellularly and intracellularly, modulating innate and adaptive immuneresponses. Here, we explored the role of Gal1 in liver regeneration using 70% partial hepatectomy (PHx) of

Desiccating stress-induced disruption of ocular surface immune tolerance drives dry eye disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dry eye is an allegedly autoimmune disorder for which the initiatingmechanisms and the targeted antigens in the ocular surface are not known, yet there is extensive evidence that a localized T helper type 1 (Th1)/Th17effector T cell response is ...

Dynamic mitochondrial–nuclear redistribution of the immunophilin FKBP51 is regulated by the PKA signaling pathway to control gene expression during adipocyte differentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Glucocorticoids play an important role in adipogenesis via the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) that forms a heterocomplex with Hsp90•Hsp70 and one high molecular weight immunophilin FKBP51 or FKBP52.

Molecular and functional characterization of a Trypanosoma cruzi nuclear adenylate kinase isoform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas’ disease, is an early divergent eukaryote in which control of gene expression relies mainly in post-transcriptional mechanisms.

Avaliação da Exposição Interna de trabalhadores em serviços de medicina nuclear através da análise de aerossóis contendo 131I

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2015
Neste estudo foram avaliados os riscos de exposição ocupacional interna associados à incorporação de 131I, via inalação, em Serviços de Medicina Nuclear, utilizando técnicas de análise de aerossóis.

Environmental Pollutant Hexachlorobenzene Induces Hypertension In a Rat Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) is a dioxin-like environmental pollutant, widely distributed in the environment. New research links exposure to high levels of persistent organic environmental toxicants to cardiovascular disease, however little is known about the

Reactive oxygen species and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 mediate hexachlorobenzene-induced cell death in FRTL-5 rat throyd cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) is an organochlorine pesticide widely distributed in the environment. We have previously shown that chronic HCB exposure triggers apoptosis in rat thyroid follicular cells.

Pharmacological strategies in lung cancer-induced cachexia: effects on muscle proteolysis, autophagy, structure, and weakness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Muscle wasting and cachexia are important systemic manifestations of highly prevalent conditions including cancer. Inflammation, oxidative stress, autophagy, ubiquitin-proteasome system, nuclear factor (NF)-kB, and mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPK)
