Isolation of cellulose nanocrystals from medium density fiberboards
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2017Cellulose fibers have been successfully isolated from medium density fiberboards (MDFs) by sodium chlorite oxidation-potassium hydroxide (NaClO2-KOH) leaching process, at 37.6% yield, comparable to the 39.3% and 37.3% cellulose fibers from eucalyptus and eucalyptus with 12% cured urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin, respectively.

Polymer Composites
This study investigated converting abundant paper mill waste, de‐inked paper sludge (DPS), into value‐added medium‐density fiberboard (MDF) panels. The objective was to repurpose this solid waste into a valuable material that aligns with the principles ...

Thermokinetic analysis and product characterization of Medium Density Fiberboard pyrolysis
Bioresource Technology, 2018This study investigates the pyrolysis of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) as a potential waste management solution. Thermal behaviour of MDF was analysed via TG/DSC. The primary decomposition step occurred between 190 °C and 425 °C. Evolved gaseous products over this step were evaluated by a FTIR spectrometer coupled with TGA.

Properties of medium density fiberboards made from renewable biomass
Bioresource Technology, 2007The goal of this study was to determine the comparative properties of dry-formed medium density fiberboards (MDF) made from renewable biomass (wheat and soybean straw) and those from conventional soft wood fiber. The MDF properties evaluated were modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, internal bond strength, thickness swell, and screw holding ...

TiO2-carbonized medium-density fiberboard for the photodegradation of methylene blue
Wood Science and Technology, 2021TiO2-carbonized medium-density fiberboard (TiO2-cMDF), prepared by carbonization of MDF treated with 50% (v/v) titanium tetraisopropoxide (Ti-tip) in isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as a precursor, was investigated for adsorption and photodegradation in aqueous methylene blue (MB) solution under UV-C (254 nm) irradiation.

Change in air and liquid permeability by addition of nanowollastonite (NW) to medium-density fiberboard (MDF) was studied. MDF was produced by mixing camel-thorn (CT) chips to wood fibers. CT content was up to 10% of the mixture.
