Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Formulation and Evaluation of Multidose Propofol Nanoemulsion Using Statistically Designed Experiments

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2020
Despite of the clinical, scientific, and commercial development, many patients complain about pain on the intravenous injection of propofol. Present work was undertaken to develop a stable multi-dose propofol nano-emulsion using 32 full factorial design ...

Engineering Nanoplatforms for Alzheimer's Disease Detection via Biomolecular Corona Proteomic and Lipidomic Profiling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered nanoparticles capture disease‐specific biomolecular coronas that uncover hidden molecular features of Alzheimer's disease. Combined proteomic and lipidomic analyses reveal a characteristic shift in ribosomal machinery and energy metabolism, generating a multiomic fingerprint that supports accurate disease detection and opens new ...

Purification of Stearidonic Acid (18:4(n-3)) and Hexadecatetraenoic Acid (16:4(n-3)) from Algal Fatty Acid with Lipase and Medium Pressure Liquid Chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2000
Stearidonic acid (18:4(n-3)) and hexadecatetraenoic acid (16:4(n-3)) are included in some edible marine algae such as Undaria pinnatifida and Ulva pertusa with relatively high compositions (up to 40%) of total fatty acids. In order to prepare 16:4(n-3) and 18:4(n-3) enriched fatty acid concentrates, we screened for a suitable lipase which concentrates ...

Extraction of Lignin from Wheat Straw by Catalysts in 1,4-Butanediol Medium under Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
Extraction of lignin from lignocellulosic materials in an autoclave using 1,4-butanediol medium has been examined by researchers. However, there has been no research on the extraction of lignin in a 1,4-butanediol medium at atmospheric pressure and no ...

Portable Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Sensor for Rapid Swab‐Based Detection of Norovirus

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a rapid, portable smartphone‐based sensor capable of detecting four norovirus genotypes from swab samples within 15 min. Sensor selectivity was validated through evaluation against four common live viruses. The swab‐based sampling process enabled simple sample preparation combined with the compact detection system, supporting use of ...

Stability of Medicinal Nanoemulsions to Spaceflight: Insights From the StarMed Experiment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chitosan‐coated melatonin nanoemulsions (MN) recovered from a sounding rocket mission preserve droplet size and controlled‐release behavior, whereas uncoated nanoemulsions show ageing‐driven droplet growth and increased accessible drug fraction. Simple polymer coatings thus enhance the flight resilience of liquid space medicines under cumulative launch

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.
