Effects of methamphetamine on locomotor activity and thalamic gene expression in leptin-deficient obese mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Leptin is an adipose-derived hormone that regulates energy balance. Leptin receptors are expressed in extrahypothalamic sites and several reports showed that leptin can influence feeding and locomotor behavior via direct actions on dopaminergic neurons ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Comparing D-Bar and Common Regularization-Based Methods for Electrical Impedance Tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objective: To compare D-bar difference reconstruction with regularized linear reconstruction in electrical impedance tomography. Approach: A standard regularized linear approach using a Laplacian penalty and the GREIT method for comparison to the D-bar ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

A Novel Solution for Overcoming Conflicts Between Line Protection and LVRT in MV Solar PV Interconnections

open access: yesIEEE Access
The implementation of low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) requirements for distributed generation (DG) sources in medium voltage (MV) distribution networks introduce challenges for the existing protection systems.

Sensitivity-Based Model of Low Voltage Distribution Systems with Distributed Energy Resources

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
A key issue in Low Voltage(LV) distribution systems is to identify strategies for the optimal management and control in the presence of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).

State estimation applied to active distribution networks with minimal measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Traditionally, state estimation is applied to transmission networks to improve security and redundancy of the measurement system. This paper describes the application of state estimation to distribution networks in order to extend the observability of ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Backward–forward sweep inverse power flow for distribution line parameters estimation with metering data

open access: yesIET Smart Grid
The transition towards the smart grid requires better information on the electrical networks at the distribution system level. Information about electrical line parameters is a critical part of such information.
