Representation of the German transmission grid for Renewable Energy Sources impact analysis
The increasing impact of fossil energy generation on the Earth ecological balance is pointing to the need of a transition in power generation technology towards the more clean and sustainable Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Comparison between flying capacitor and modular multilevel inverter [PDF]
The paper describes the operational principle of flying capacitor and modular multilevel inverters. The detailed discussions of dc link capacitors voltage balancing methods for both inverters are given in order to enable fair comparison. The causes of dc

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The increasing number of prosumers presents a significant challenge for power grid operators at low- and medium-voltage levels. This necessitates a fresh approach to the development of planning procedures and methods. In this review, we focus on four key

Restoration of Low-Voltage Distribution Systems With Inverter-Interfaced DG Units
The increasing share of distributed generation (DG) offers new chances in grid restoration of low-voltage distribution grids. Instead of relying on the transmission or high- and medium-voltage levels, establishing islanding operation in low-voltage grids

Ca2+ transients are not required as signals for long-term neurite outgrowth from cultured sympathetic neurons [PDF]
A method for clamping cytosolic free Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) in cultures of rat sympathetic neurons at or below resting levels for several days was devised to determine whether Ca2+ signals are required for neurite outgrowth from neurons that depend on Nerve ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
