Emulsion Stability of Different Intravenous Propofol Formulations in Simulated Co-Administration with Remifentanil Hydrochloride

open access: yesPharmaceutical Technology in Hospital Pharmacy, 2019
Propofol and remifentanil often need to be co-administered via the same intravenous catheter line, which predisposes to potential compatibility issues. Our aim was to determine and compare the emulsion stability of three propofol formulations, two with ...

Medium chain triglycerides and hepatic encephalopathy [PDF]

open access: yesGut, 1974
The oral administration of short (C(6)) and medium (C(8) and (C(10)) chain triglycerides produced no clinical or electroencephalographic changes in patients with cirrhosis of the liver. Arterial ammonia levels were also monitored in these patients and showed no significant change after medium chain triglycerides.

Intensified synthesis of palm olein designer lipids using sonication

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2021
The present study deals with intensified synthesis of designer lipids with application of ultrasound based on biocatalyzed reaction between long chain triglyceride and medium chain fatty acid.

The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Research Progress on Industrialization Development of Medium and Long Chain Triglycerides

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Medium and long chain triglycerides (MLCTs) are a kind of structured lipids with special physical and chemical properties and nutritional functions, which contain both medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) and long chain fatty acids (LCFAs).

Ketogenic Diet as an Epigenetic Therapy in SETD1B‐Related Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Histone lysine methyltransferases such as SETD1B regulate chromatin structure and gene transcription. Ketone bodies, including butyrate, act as histone deacetylase inhibitors. We report a 4‐year‐old boy with SETD1B‐related absence epilepsy, refractory to conventional medications, who achieved sustained > 90% seizure reduction on the Modified ...

Dietary long-chain, but not medium-chain, triglycerides impair exercise performance and uncouple cardiac mitochondria in rats

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2011
Short-term consumption of a high-fat diet impairs exercise capacity in both rats and humans, and increases expression of the mitochondrial uncoupling protein, UCP3, in rodent cardiac and skeletal muscle via activation of the transcription factor ...

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

The use of medium-chain triglycerides in patients with cystic fibrosis

open access: yesЛечащий Врач
Background. Medium chain triglycerides are absorbed and metabolized faster than long-chain fatty acids, as they bypass the steps necessary for the absorption of long-chain fatty acids.
